What’s with this sudden surge of boisterous female protagonists in Hindi cinema? These days you can hardly find the Bollywood actresses in the “Mother India” avatar. Be it Dev D’s Paro, Kaminey’s Sweety, or Fashions’s Meghna, all of them had the much needed chutzpah that never existed in the films of yesteryears, as the heroine was always busy prancing around the trees and playing the dolled up ideal love interest of the hero. Even Deepika’s character in Love Aaj Kal, was quite refreshing that way. For a change, we were not served with the usual melodramatic take on love that is so synonymous with Bollywood.

Lets pretend...shall we?

Initially it was Orkut, later the slightly sophisticated lot shifted their loyalties to Facebook. And now it’s the Twitter mania. It makes sense for the Ashton Kutchers and Priyanka Chopras of the world to have a twitter account. People might be interested to know about the people they are sleeping with or the name of their next film for that matter... but for the rest of the people it hardly makes any sense to type relentlessly from the phones and let the entire world know about their lackluster life…for example, some of them brag about their stint at New York, and how they miss Manhattan, after returning to the Malwa region, in India!!. Okay we get it! You had been to “New York”, got a pair of socks from the Saks Fifth Avenue, and you terribly miss window shopping there…. Its kinda strange that how everybody likes to act like a diva through the tweets while most of them are quite drab in their real life… maybe its all about concealing your flaws and presenting the brighter side to the world… but people who know you well, can easily decipher that its all a charade… so why pretend?
